Stage C
Stage C lasts for at least 24 months. In this time trainees are exposed to all aspects of histopathology and are expected to be competent in the macroscopic and microscopic assessment of all specimens. Trainees also receive training in leadership, management and teaching in preparation for their future roles as consultants. To move on to stage D trainees need to pass the FRCPath part 2. This is a two day exam of short and long cases, macroscopic assessment and a viva.
