Sub-specialities in Histopathology
Most trainees choose to train as a general histopathologist. However some trainees choose to follow a career in one of the three recognised sub specialities of histopathology: Paediatric pathology, neuropathology or forensic pathology. Each of these specialities has its own training scheme and exams. Trainees can only apply for these schemes when they have successfully completed stage B (ST3 onwards). Stages A and B usually include exposure to these specialities.
