ST1 rotations:

  • Training programme for ST1’s:
  • Training during the first year is delivered by fortnightly long specialty specific blocks with weekly autopsy sessions.
  • Trainees also attend 3 block teaching weeks which take place in Bristol, Southampton and Buckinghamshire.
  • South Wales – 1month specialty based teaching at the start of he attachment. Weekly teaching from consultants in the region from each speciality.
  • North Wales – Teaching for ST1 fortnightly rotation through each speciality followed by monthly consultant attachments. Weekly teaching with Liverpool ST1.
SST1-5 rotations:

  • Glan Clwyd Hospital BCUHB, Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire
  • Neuropathology rotation: Whiston Hospital Liverpool
  • Paediatric rotation: Alder Hey Hospital Liverpool
  • The department is centralised and covers all of North Wales (including Wrexham Maelor Hospital and Bangor Hospital), no travel is required.
